They are extremely competitive with each, and also incredibly supportive of each other's career, feeling no need to outrun each other.
"She is not only my wife, we are best friends,'' Ross said.
Richards-Ross has needed that love and support.
She has been seeing a new doctor who believes she was mistakenly diagnosed with Behcet's syndrome five years ago. Her lips became so swollen and ulcerated that it became difficult for her to breathe and nearly impossible to speak.
"Even though I still struggle with the skin lesions and mouth ulcers from time to time, I'm in a much better place, health-wise,'' she said. "I hope that the worst is behind me now.''
When it comes to outdistancing her husband, well, that is another story. Ross doesn't know for sure, but he figures he is king of the hill in the household when it comes to quick bursts, i.e., the 40-yard dash. But longer distances?
"We train together all the time, but we've never lined up and just flat-out raced and I'm not willing to, either,'' he said with a laugh. "Unless it's the 40.''
